Milan & PSG Join Race For Midfielder Barella But Inter Remain In Control

Inter will have to fight off competition from Milan and Paris Saint-Germain if they wish to sign midfielder Nicolo Barella from Cagliari, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri have been in talks with Cagliari for more than a week but no agreement has been reached, allowing other clubs to join the race.

Milan have a budget of €80 million for this summer’s transfer market with Paolo Maldini keen to invest some on the 22-year-old, but PSG intend to knock on Cagliari’s door as well.

Inter remain in control of proceedings, however, because Barella has already agreed to join the club and is waiting for them to secure a deal.

“Barella is intrigued by the prospect of joining an ambitious group with a coach who believes in him a lot,” Gazzetta said.

Cagliari want €50 million to sell the Italian international whereas Inter want to pay €30 million in cash and make up the other €20 million with makeweights.

Conte’s veto on the sale of defender Alessandro Bastoni makes talks harder for the Nerazzurri, though, while Federico Dimarco and Eder’s candidatures are not certain to join the Rossoblu either.
