Antonio Conte has given Inter the all-clear to pursue a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Ante Rebic, according to La Stampa.
Rebic was a key part of the side that reached the semi-finals of last season’s Europa League, which saw Adi Hutter’s side lose to the tournament’s eventual winners Chelsea on penalties.
The 25-year-old will cost Inter €40 million but is popular with Conte for his versatility, capable of playing both as a wide player and as a centre-forward.
Rebic made 38 appearances for Frankfurt in all competitions during the 2018-19 campaign, scoring 10 goals and creating six assists.
The forward was involved in Croatia’s run to the FIFA World Cup final last summer, scoring their opening goal in a 3-0 group stage win over Argentine in Russia.
In total Rebic has made 28 appearances for his country since debuting in August 2013, scoring three goals, although he was not included in Zlatko Dalic’s squad for their recent Euro 2020 qualifying match against Wales.
