Inter and Milan will present their plan regarding the future of San Siro to the city council ‘before the summer holidays’, according to mayor Giuseppe Sala.
Both parties are thought to be in favour of demolishing San Siro and building a new modern stadium, but no official confirmation has arrived yet.
Sala today told reporters it would cost a lot of money to create a new ground and described the Giuseppe Meazza as ‘extraordinary’.
“Milan and Inter will bring us a proposal but I promise I don’t know what it will be,” Sala said.
“We’ll know fairly soon, I think they’re about ready now. We’ll need a bit more patience but it should arrive before the holidays.
“It’s extremely expensive building a new stadium from scratch but I don’t want to influence anyone.”
Sala was also asked about Inter plans for the summer transfer window, suggesting the time had come for Mauro Icardi to leave.
“Nicolo Barella is a great player and I’m hoping he arrives,” the Inter supporter added.
“It’s not easy to get fans back on side after you’ve lost their trust. Icardi is an incredible player and we can’t sell him on the cheap but I couldn’t tolerate another year like the one we’ve just had.”
