Borja Valero’s Wages Could Scupper Fiorentina Return

Fiorentina’s bid to resign midfielder Borja Valero from Inter could be scuppered by the Spaniard’s wage demands, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Gianluca Di Marzio last night reported Vincenzo Montella wanted the midfielder back and this was confirmed by the Milanese paper this morning.

However, the 34-year-old earns €3 million with Inter and would need to make a significant financial sacrifice in order to rejoin the Viola.

Inter signed Valero for €5.5 million in the summer of 2017 on an express request from Luciano Spalletti, who felt the Nerazzurri needed a player of his quality in midfield.

Valero has made 75 appearances for Inter during his two seasons in Milan, scoring two goals in the 2017-18 campaign as they secured a return to the Champions League.

Spalletti relied heavily on the Spaniard while in charge but his performances came under increasing scrutiny from supporters last year.

Montella has already signed Valero once for Fiorentina, bringing him to Italy from Villarreal back in 2012.
