Fiorentina want to bring Borja Valero back to the club after selling him to Inter two years ago, according to Sky Sport.
Valero joined the Nerazzurri for €5.5 million on an express request from former boss Luciano Spalletti, with teammate Matias Vecino joining in the same summer.
Vincenzo Montella wants to resign the Spaniard as he revamps the Viola’s squad, while Antonio Conte does not consider Valero part of his plans for next season.
Inter would want €2-3 million to part company with the 34-year-old, who is valued at €2.13 million in the club’s books this season.
Valero has made 75 appearances for Inter during his two seasons in Milan, scoring two goals in the 2017-18 campaign.
Spalletti relied heavily on the Spaniard but his performances came under increasing scrutiny from supporters last year.
Montella has already signed Valero once for Fiorentina, bringing him to Italy from Villarreal back in 2012.
Inter could step up their pursuit of Sassuolo midfielder Stefano Sensi if they were to complete a deal.
