Inter Behind Juventus In Battle To Sign Manchester United’s Darmian

Inter are behind Juventus in the race to sign Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian, according to Sky Sport.

Darmian was again linked with a move to the Nerazzurri in Monday’s papers, although Tuttosport suggested both Miranda and Dalbert would have to leave first.

Juve are nevertheless ahead as far as the Italian international is concerned, in whom they have identified a possible replacement for Joao Cancelo.

Darmian only made five starts in all competitions for United last season, as they finished sixth in the Premier League and reached the Champions League quarter-finals.

Inter’s chief executive Beppe Marotta earlier told Sky he wanted the club to create a spine of Italian players, because he believed they had a stronger sense of belonging than those who arrived from abroad.

Conte coached Darmian while he was in charge of the Italian national team and would be able to play him either on the left or the right of his five-man midfield.
