Antonio Conte is hoping Inter’s new fitness coaches can whip his players into shape before the Serie A season begins, Gazzetta dello Sport reported today.
The Nerazzurri started preseason training on Monday and will be put through their paces over the next month by Antonio Pintus and Julio Tous Fayardo, both of whom are ex-Juventus.
Pintus has worked in the industry since 1991 and is renowned for his ability to ensure players are fit and ready in key moments of the season.
Tous has trained Frank Rijkaard’s Barcelona and tennis legend Rafael Nadal, using the motto: ‘Strength makes you younger, endurance makes you older’.
Conte will have six days’ worth of training in Switzerland before Inter fly out to Asia for their traditional summer tour.
The former Chelsea boss intends to use this week to bed in his new tactical ideas, wary of how the upcoming prestige matches will limit time on the training ground.
Inter’s players will be subjected to double sessions every day and began training this morning with a series of athletic tests.
