Inter’s chief executive Beppe Marotta has not lost all hope of swapping Mauro Icardi with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, according to Corriere della Sera.
Icardi wants to join the Bianconeri but an offer is unlikely to arrive until they have convinced Gonzalo Higuain to accept a move to Roma and sold either Moise Kean or Mario Mandzukic.
Inter want a deal quickly for their former captain, who also has interest from Napoli, because Icardi is blocking their pursuit for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.
Marotta has offered Manchester United a €10 million loan with a €50 million obligation to buy, but the Premier League giants want €70 million in a permanent deal.
Lukaku wanted to be left out of United’s squad for their preseason tour of Australian but the Belgian has had to travel with them.
It seems any deal is still a long way off, despite Antonio Conte’s desire to have the striker signed in time to start preseason training this week.
Inter are far closer to securing Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella and could reach an agreement with the Rossoblu today, if Marotta meets Tommaso Giulini at the Lega Calcio’s headquarters.
Marotta may also see Roma’s new sporting director Gianluca Petrachi in a bid to make progress in talks for Edin Dzeko.
