Inter Defender Miranda Celebrates Brazil’s Copa America Triumph

Inter defender Joao Miranda last night praised his Brazil teammates for getting their supporters back onside after winning the Copa America.

Miranda was an unused substitute as the Selecao secured a 3-1 win over Peru in the final, claiming their first title since the 2007 edition.

The 34-year-old also had words of encouragement for his club teammate Lautaro Martinez, who helped Argentina to third place.

“It was a difficult match but we’ve achieved our objective, which for us is always to be champions,” Miranda told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Little by little we’ve brought the supporters back on our side. We know how difficult it is to play for Brazil.

“Lautaro is a good lad and he’ll certainly have time to win something with Argentina.”

Miranda last week suggested he was prepared to stay at Inter for another season, despite only having one year left on his contract.

Antonio Conte appeared to close the door yesterday, though, snubbing him when discussing his defensive options during his press conference.
