Inter’s unwanted midfielder Joao Mario has interest from two clubs in China, according to FcInterNews.it.
Shanghai Shenhua and Shanghai SIPG are looking to bring ‘high-level European players’ to the Super League and have identified the Portuguese international as an option.
Nelio Lucas, a well-connected Portuguese agent with Ivan Perisic among his clients, has made contact with Inter on their behalf and been told the Nerazzurri want €25 million.
Inter want to sell Mario on a permanent deal but they are aware this will prove difficult.
Monaco are also keen to sign the player back in Europe, despite his disappointing form since joining Inter from Sporting CP in 2016.
Leonardo Jardim has made an express request to sign Mario, but the French club’s offer of a €3 million loan and a €15 million option to buy – which would become an obligation when certain conditions are met – does not appeal to Inter.
Mario himself is still keen on a return to the Premier League, where he played for West Ham during the second half of the 2017-18 season.
Lucas is in talks with the Hammers over a deal for Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez, and it is plausible he could investigate a move for Inter’s outcast too.
