Inter & AC Milan Fans Would Have 26,000 Fewer Seats At New San Siro

Inter and Milan supporters would have 26,000 fewer seats available to them at the new reduced capacity San Siro, Tuttosport reported this morning.

The clubs intend to increase the number of corporate seats in the ground four times over, rising from 3,000 at the moment to 12,000.

This would mean fans only have 51,000 seats in the new stadium, though, compared to 77,000 at the existing San Siro.

“Inter and Milan’s master plan involves a clear increase in opportunities for sponsors and business partners,” the paper explained.

“It’s the direction all clubs are taking when building new stadiums nowadays, in an attempt to maximise revenue.”

Milan’s new chief executive Ivan Gazidis oversaw the construction of Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in 2006, which now has 9,000 corporate seats.

San Siro’s new capacity would be 63,000 and not 60,000, in an attempt to make the stadium more appealing to UEFA as a future Champions League final venue.

“There is no official limit but they tend to favour stadiums which have capacities closer to 70,000,” Tuttosport concluded.
