Inter may need to wait for Gonzalo Higuain to join Roma before they can complete a deal for Edin Dzeko, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Talks for the Bosnian have been on hold for weeks after the clubs came close to reaching an agreement near the end of June.
Roma’s rigidity on their €20 million asking price is thought to be in part because they do not have a replacement lined up.
Securing a deal for Higuain, whom Juventus are keen to offload, might encourage the Giallorossi to be more flexible in negotiations with Inter.
Antonio Conte wants Inter to sign Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku as quickly as possible, not least because he has very few first-team forwards to work with in Asia.
It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri’s head coach is prepared to wait for deals elsewhere to fall into place, before Dzeko arrives in Milan.
Inter face Manchester United in the International Champions Cup on Saturday, having flown out to Singapore yesterday.
