Inter & AC Milan To Meet Mayor For New San Siro Talks In September

Inter and AC Milan will meet city mayor Giuseppe Sala again in September to discuss their plans for San Siro, according to Tuttosport.

The clubs submitted a Technical and Economic Feasibility Study to the local council last month and should receive a formal response by early November.

The meeting in September will allow them to explain their master-plan in greater detail, though, with the aim of breaking Sala’s longstanding resistance to knocking down San Siro.

Should Sala give Inter and Milan the green light to go ahead with their project, expected to cost a total of €1.2 billion, the clubs will begin seeking a sponsor for the ground’s naming rights.

Sala and his fellow councillors are reluctant to grant the clubs permission to build a new stadium, preferring a project which looks to revamp the existing San Siro.

Milan and Cortino d’Ampezzo’s successful bid to host the 2026 Winter Olympics has further complicated matters, with the Giuseppe Meazza due to host the opening ceremony.
