Antonio Candreva is hopeful Inter can give birth to the start of a new era under Antonio Conte this season.
Goals from Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi, Romelu Lukaku and Candreva himself secured a convincing 4-0 win against Lecce at San Siro last night, helping Conte make the perfect start as the Nerazzurri’s head coach.
Candreva was singled out for praise on Monday after a performance that suggested he could revive his fortunes in Milan this season.
But the forward told Sport Mediaset: “It’s not only a new part of my history that needs to start, Inter’s new history needs to start here too.
“This is an important year for us and we want to ensure it’s a very satisfying one.”
Candreva was widely expected to leave Inter this summer after a terribly disappointing season under Luciano Spalletti.
But Conte appears to have reinvigorated the former Lazio man, just as he did while coaching the Italian national team in the run-up to Euro 2016.
