Conte’s Inter Show Their Scudetto Credentials With Impressive Lecce Victory

Inter showed they are good enough to compete for the Scudetto this season with their performance against Lecce last night, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi, Romelu Lukaku and Antonio Candreva were all on target for the Nerazzurri to secure a convincing 4-0 win at San Siro.

Conte said he wanted at least a 1% chance of winning something with Inter and the paper assured he most certainly had it on Monday’s evidence.

“If this is Inter, the list of candidates for this year’s Serie A title will have to be extended to include them,” GdS reported.

“If this is Inter, they can do without Mauro Icardi this season without having too many regrets.

“It was August, the first week of the season, against a newly-promoted Lecce side that proved to be pleasant to watch but also terribly fragile. But it was a dazzling start.”

Inter were praised for showing four key traits of any top side, or rather character, a double play-making pivot with Brozovic and Sensi, the dare to dream which led Candreva to score a stunner and the desire to attack right until the end.

“They already have a clear identity,” GdS concluded.

“If Juventus still have two fathers and Milan none, this is already Conte’s Inter.”
