Inter have denied making contact with Juventus ahead of possible negotiations over Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala, according to Sport Mediaset.
Other sources this morning reported Beppe Marotta had held conciliatory talks over the phone with his former colleague Fabio Paratici, following a summer full of tension between the clubs.
But sources close to the Nerazzurri have insisted no such conversation took place, which would make it far less likely for any deal to take place in the final week of the transfer window.
Icardi was left out of Inter’s match-day squad for their opening Serie A fixture against Lecce yesterday, while Dybala was an unused substitute for Juventus against Parma on Saturday.
On the supposed phone conversation, Gazzetta dello Sport had reported: “After a bit of initial embarrassment, Marotta and Paratici broke the ice very quickly. Friends close to both assured they shared a couple of jokes and raised a few smiles like old times.
“Their conversation did not produce any particular acceleration in terms of transfer talks. They didn’t have time to begin any negotiations, nor did they arrange what would have been an even more important face-to-face meeting.”
It now remains unclear whether such a call ever took place.
