Inter & Milan’s San Siro Stadium Capacity Reduced Due To Safety Concerns

Due to safety concerns, it will be impossible for San Siro to be a complete sell out for either of its inhabitants Inter or Milan according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The safety committee for the stadium has covered several areas of the stadium with tarpaulin due to deeming those sections unsafe for supporters.

The tarpaulin will remain in place for the entirety of the 2019/20 campaign and the committee will meet again next Summer to take a look at the situation again and decide whether to re-open the affected areas of the stadium.

Approximately 2000 seats within the 80,018 capacity stadium have been considered not safe meaning the maximum attendance either Inter or Milan can achieve this season will be circa 78,000.

Going by the attendances so far this season, the reduction will not have a major affect on either club outside of the Milan derby and matches with Juventus as 64,188 attended Inter’s first home game of the season against Lecce on the opening weekend whilst 56,661 flocked to San Siro to see Milan’s 1-0 win over Brescia at the weekend.
