Former Inter midfielder Andrea Pirlo believes Inter are best placed to challenge Juventus for the 2019/20 Serie A title.

Pirlo, who spent three years on Inter’s books, was asked if he thinks the Nerazzurri will be the biggest competitor for another former club of his in Juventus, who are going for their ninth straight Serie A title.

“At this moment yes, the transfer market will end today and then we will then know the final teams. Inter is the most equipped side to fight with Juventus,” he is quoted as saying by CalcioMercato.com on the sidelines of an event organised by the Vialli and Mauro foundation.

Inter currently top the Serie A table after two rounds but are currently only above their arch-rivals the Bianconeri on goal difference.

The two sides will meet for the first time this season in a month’s time with Inter playing host to Juventus at the San Siro stadium.
