Inter & AC Milan To Present New Stadium Plans To City Council On Thursday

After the original presentation was delayed, Inter and AC Milan will present the two plans for their proposed new stadium to the Milan city council this coming Thursday according to a report from Corriere della Sera.

The project from American architecture group Populous appears to hold a slight lead over the joint project of Davide Manica and Cmr.

Populous were the firm behind Tottenham Hotspur’s brand new stadium and they have grand plans for Inter and AC Milan’s new ground that will replace San Siro.

Renderings that have already come out in the media show a futuristic looking stadium covered in glass, which, with thanks to the lighting that will be used, will slightly resemble those of the famous Duomo cathedral.

As for the Manica-Cmr project, they are going for a more traditional look. The stadium will be oval in shape with two rings, one blue and the other red to signify the teams involved in the project.

Regardless of which stadium is eventually chosen, the clubs want to completely develop the area around it and wish to add shops, offices and hotels among other things.

The report concludes that the Milan city council will have until October 10 to declare a public interest in the new stadium project.
