Nicolo Barella is not expected to start for the Italian national team in this weekend’s EURO 2020 qualifier against Greece according to a report from Tuttosport.
National team manager Roberto Mancini instead looks set to prefer Juventus’ Federico Bernardeschi to play alongside Jorginho and Marco Verratti as part of the three-man midfield in the 4-3-3 formation.
Whilst Barella will not start, despite some really decent performers for the Azzurri as of late, there will be one Inter representative in the starting XI in the shape of full back Danilo D’Ambrosio.
Italy could near enough secure their place at next Summer’s finals with a victory but it also depends on the results of the other matches in Group J. The Azzurri have won all six of their qualifiers to date and have a six point gap on second placed Finland.
Italy predicted starting XI (4-3-3-): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Danilo D’Ambrosio, Alessio Romagnoli, Leonardo Bonucci, Leonardo Spinazzola; Jorginho, Federico Bernardeschi, Marco Verratti; Federico Chiesa, Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne.
