AC Milan President Scaroni: “Impossible To Restructure San Siro”

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has shared his views on the recent meeting he and Inter chief executive Alessandro Antonello had with the citizens of the San Siro district relating to their proposals to build a new stadium.

The two clubs wish to build a new state-of-the-art stadium to replace the near century-old San Siro with two plans currently in the running. Despite the clubs being set on the idea, they have faced a lot of opposition from citizens and the city council.

“We went to the meeting to hear words of encouragement but also criticism. We have taken note of everything said and our dialogue will continue with the citizens,” he said in an interview with TGR Lombardia.

He was then asked about the possibility of San Siro being restructured, something many of the new stadium detractors have called for.

“We are convinced that the restructuring of San Siro is an impossible mission. It would be possible but would mean the two clubs would have to play away from San Siro for three years.”

He concluded by sharing his delight at the number of responses received by fans on the new stadium website.

“I am told that there have been 37000 responses from fans and we hope that these answers provided will encourage us to move forward.
