In an interview which appeared in today’s paper edition of Tuttosport, former AC Milan player Demetrio Albertini has spoken on Antonio Conte’s impact at this early stage of his tenure in charge of Inter.
“Bringing Antonio Conte in as manager is a stimulus for club directors because he poses a problem for you every day, and if there is not a problem, he creates one for you because he is never satisfied,” he said.
“That has always been the way that he works. I have been surprised by this great symbiosis between Conte and Inter in the limited time he has been there.”
He was then asked what he made of Inter’s recent performance against Barcelona in the Champions League.
“It was beautiful, Inter have shown the qualities to be where they are and everything they are doing is down to hard work with an important programme, which is fundamental to obtain a certain type of results.”
He was then asked for his views on San Siro and its likely demolition in the coming years as Inter and AC Milan look to build their new stadium.
“From an emotional point of view, it is sad. San Siro is historic but today the fans need something different. I am neither an architect nor an engineer: the stadium, as it is, cannot be a modern home for Milan and Inter.
“If it were up to me, if it could, I would like the Meazza to be restructured. This is because the sense of belonging must be defended until death.”
He was then asked about what the Rossoneri could learn from the Nerazzurri when it comes to planning a project.
“It is no coincidence that the Inter project started with them signing many Italians. Milan should do this too.”
