In a colum in today’s print edition of Tuttosport, noted journalist Alessandro Vocalelli analysed Inter’s collapse in their 3-2 defeat away to Borussia Dortmund last night in the Champions League.

“Inter gave up the field to their opponents, allowing Sancho and his teammates to go at them in waves, scoring one goal then another, then another,” he began his analysis.

“It [Inter’s collapse] was not a fitness problem, that famous problem often brought up by Antonio Conte because once they were behind and practically one man down after Politano’s injury, the Nerazzurri started to play again and ended up creating some danger, with Sensi getting a sensational opportunity to score.

“Couldn’t Inter have just followed up on that first half by simply continuing to play? The defeat does not condemn Inter [to an exit from the competition] but Inter must

absolutely win the next two. In short, it was a very bitter, almost painful evening for Inter.”
