Inter have paid tribute to their former defender Andy Brehme with a post on their official website yesterday, following his 59th birthday.
The Nerazzurri said: “He arrived from Bayern Munich in 1988, he wore the Nerazzurri jersey for four seasons, collecting 154 appearances and 12 goals, playing a leading role in the conquest of three trophies: a Scudetto, a UEFA Cup and an Italian Super Cup. Andreas Brehme turns 59 and receives the wishes of FC Internazionale Milano and Inter Forever.”
Brehme won the World Cup with Germany on Italian soil in 1990 and was an important full-back for the Nerazzurri in his four seasons with the club. Following his time in Milan, he moved to Spanish side Real Zaragoza in 1992, where he spent one season, before finishing his career with German side FC Kaiserslautern.
The World Cup winner played 609 club games throughout his career, scoring 78 goals and providing 22 assists in the process. He also picked up the only red card of his whole club career with the Nerazzurri.
