Inter owned Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has distanced himself from reports discussing his future with Flamengo in an interview with Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte.
“We are having a wonderful year, we now have the Club World Cup to play. Flamengo are a huge club, who am I to put myself in the midst of these matters? We have the Club World Cup to play, let’s focus on this. Who knows what it would feel like to be world champion?” he said on the sidelines of Flamengo’s dual-celebrations as they celebrated Copa Libertadores and Brazilian league title glory.
The 23-year-old striker has spent the year on loan at the Mengao and has been in simply sensational form having netted 40 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions.
Flamengo seemingly had a deal in principle with Inter over his permanent transfer but as per various reports in the media, Inter have now significantly raised their asking price amid interest from other clubs.
