Stefan de Vrij has downplayed the idea that this is his best season of his career as part of the pre-match press conference ahead of Inter’s Champions League match away to Slavia Prague.
“There is still a long way to go in the season but I feel good and I am doing well. There are lots of games still to be played and I do not feel like looking back. I am always looking to the future and to the next game,” the Dutchman explained.
He was then asked on the differences between playing in Italy and in European football.
“I have been playing in Italy for many years, the teams all know each other. Matches like these, on the other hand, are against opponents that we do not know, they play in a different and more physical way: they are tough. Slavia Prague run a lot and we saw that in the first leg but we have improved so much and are ready for tomorrow’s match.
“The best teams in Europe are in the Champions League, and it is obvious that against Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez it is more difficult. Teams in this competition know how to win matches. We are training to grow.”
