Inter Need Arturo Vidal To Force Hand With Barcelona To Secure January Transfer

Inter will fail in their pursuit to sign Arturo Vidal this month unless the midfielder and his agent pressurise Barcelona to let him leave, according to Sport Mediaset.

Vidal headed in the Blaugrana’s second goal last night as they drew 2-2 at city rivals Espanyol, further complicating the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of the 32-year-old.

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde ruled out a departure on Friday and will be no more willing to countenance a sale after the Chilean’s performance in the Catalan derby.

Talks between the clubs are continuing with Inter hoping they can make a breakthrough as soon as possible.

SM today reported Vidal had ‘given his word’ to Inter about a January move, but Barca remain adamant he will cost €20 million.

His agent will need to persuade the La Liga giants to change their stance in order to keep that promise, however.

Barca are level on points with Real Madrid at the top of the table after Zinedine Zidane’s side defeated Getafe 3-0 yesterday.

Vidal spent three seasons playing under Antonio Conte at Juventus, where the pair won three consecutive Serie A titles.
