Samir Handanovic’s condition will be evaluated on a daily basis in the lead up to this weekend’s second Derby della Madonnina of the season against AC Milan according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper sustained a hairline fracture to one of his fingers in his left hand in training on Friday, an injury that typically takes between three and four weeks to fully recover.
Despite this, Inter continue to have hope, albeit minimal, that the club captain could be back for the game against the Rossoneri on Sunday night at San Siro.
The affected finger has not swollen up too much which is a positive sign but it will all ultimately depend on how the player is feeling and how much pain he feels.
This season Handnaovic has appeared in all barring one of Inter’s 30 competitive matches across all competitions, in which he has kept eight clean sheets.
