Matias Vecino is currently likely to get the nod over Christian Eriksen to start in this weekend’s Milan derby according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.
The Uruguayan international midfielder looked set to leave the club during the recent January transfer window but has since been reinstated and started and finished each of Inter’s past two matches.
Eriksen joined Inter in January from Tottenham Hotspur and although he started against Udinese, he still has not gotten fully to grips with Inter manager Antonio Conte’s ways and also lacks Milan derby experience, something Vecino has.
The report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to state that whilst Diego Godin appears favourite to replace the suspended Alessandro Bastoni, Conte may well prefer to deploy Danilo D’Ambrosio in Bastoni’s place alongside Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij.
The report goes on to conclude that Antonio Candreva will come back in at right wing back having been benched for the match against Udinese.
