Inter Defender Diego Godin: “We Will Look To Limit AC Milan Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic”

Inter’s Uruguayan international central defender Diego Godin stopped by Italian broadcaster RAI Sport moments ago to share his thoughts on tonight’s Serie A Derby della Madonnina clash at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district where the Nerazzurri host AC Milan, with kick-off scheduled for 20.45 CET.

The former Atletico Madrid player underlined that it is very important for Inter to be able to keep AC Milan’s Swedish veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic quiet, in order to come out of this derby with all three points.

“It will be a fundamentally important match, int he first hand for what the derby means for the fans. There are three important points at stake with regards to the league title as well as the significance the match has on its own.

“We all know Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he is a fantastic striker and a point of reference for AC Milan. We will look to limit him and cut balls being supplied to him to then try and win the match.”

Godin was then asked what the Nerazzurri have to do in order to win the derby to which he replied the importance of remaining concentrated for the full 90 minutes as well as not making any mistakes.

“The most important thing is to remain 120% both mentally and physically for the entire match. We have pårepared well for this match during the week both physically and mentally.

“You win these games when you work as a team, working hard in defence as well as capitalizing on the occasions you get.”

The Uruguayan international central defender spent 9 seasons with Atletico in Madrid before making the switch this summer to Inter and Italy on a free transfer. Since making the switch Godin has featured 21 times across all competitions but is yet to score his first goal for Inter.
