The three previous times Inter have won at least 16 games and lost just once after 23 games played in Serie A they have went on to win the title, sports data and analytics company Opta have highlighted.

With the 4-2 Derby della Madonnina win over city rivals AC Milan on Sunday night Inter now have a record of 16 wins, six draws and one loss after 23 games this season.

This feat was also achieved in the 1988/89, 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons and it now remains to be seen whether Inter can repeat history by winning the title this time round too.
