Inter wing back Ashley Young is adamant that Inter remain in the Serie A title race despite their loss to fellow title challengers Lazio on Sunday night at the Stadio Olimpico.
The 34-year-old Englishman, who joined Inter during the recent January transfer window from Premier League club Manchester United, scored his first goal in a Nerazzurri shirt but it was not enough to prevent Inter from falling to a 2-1 defeat, which means the club have slid down to third in the table having went into this weekend sitting top.
Young scored just before the half time interval but second half goals from Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic gave the hosts all three points.
“I am sorry that we have lost but we can still compete for the title,” he stressed in an interview with Italia broadcaster Sky Sport Italia at the end of the match.
The 39-time England international then went on to discuss Christian Eriksen, who joined him in switching the Premier League for Serie A in January as the Dane joined Inter from Tottenham Hotspur.
“I know him from the Premier League, he is a fantastic player who has come to a strong team. He’ll have to settle in.”
