Ahead of tomorrow evening’s Europa League round of 32 first leg tie away to Ludogorets, Inter manager Antonio Conte spoke to the gathered media in the press room of the Razgrad stadium.
The press conference started with Conte being asked what he believes tomorrow’s opponents best qualities are.
“We are talking about a team accustomed to playing in Europe. They are at the top of their domestic table with an important margin on the second placed team.
“They are a good team with many quality individuals. We will have to face the match with the right determination, humility and desire to do our best knowing that we will face a team that is doing well, who are healthy and also won their last match 6-0. We will have to be very careful.”
He was then asked if Cosmin Moti, who is formerly of Siena, could be a key player for the Bulgarian’s tomorrow.
“I don’t like to talk about individuals but for sure, Ludogorets have some very good quality individuals and a very good attack. We will have to have great respect for them. We have worked knowing their qualities and what their shortcomings can be.”
Next he was asked about Alexis Sanchez and what he needs to do in order to get back to his best.
“Sanchez has recovered from a bad injury and has been missing for three months. He is recovering well, he is now ready to start from the first minute. In the last two years he has not played much, he needs to get into the best condition and we must help him.”
Conte was then asked about Sunday night’s 2-1 Serie A loss to fellow title challengers Lazio
“The final result hurts but I think the performance was very good against a Lazio that today is one of the best teams in the league. I am sorry because the two goals conceded we conceded were two gifts to Lazio.
“Having said that we start with the our convictions and our desire to improve. The goal must be only this. Tomorrow we have a commitment in a European competition, it is right to respect it in the best possible way.”
He was then asked about his comments following that match regarding the need for every player to grow on an individual level.
“Every single player must think about improving himself. He must not have hope in those who are next to him. I have talked about individual growth because if this happens we will grow as a team.”
In conclusion, the former Italian national team manager went on to confirm that both Marcelo Brozovic and Milan Skriniar will play no part in the match and have in fact not even travelled with the team.
“Brozovic remained in Milan because he is continuing to deal with an ankle problem, in the past two days he has not trained and I want him following a personalised training scheduled for him to recover 100%.
“Skriniar also remained in Milan as he would not have played. Tomorrow morning the finishing touches will be made in training and then I will make a decision on team selection.”
