Napoli attacker Dries Mertens’ priority is to sign a contract extension with the club according to a report from CalcioMercato.com.
The Belgian international’s current contract with the club is due to expire at the end of this season and due to this, several clubs have sparked an interest in signing him on a free transfer, including Inter, an option which, as per the report, Mertens is considering in case he cannot agree new terms with the Partenopei.
Multiple reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that Napoli have tabled a two year contract offer to the 32-year-old but their offer falls short of the demands the former PSV Eindhoven player has.
Other reports have meanwhile suggested that Inter have tabled a contract offer to him as well and although on better terms, it is still not exactly what Mertens is after.
This season he has made 26 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored 11 goals and tallied five assists across all competitions.
