Respected Italian football journalist and transfer market expert Niccolo Ceccarini has claimed that Inter target Federico Chiesa is close to signing a contract renewal with Fiorentina.

Contract talks between the highly rated winger and Florence based club have been going on for some time now but the end looks to be in sight.

The Italian international is already under contract with La Viola until the end of the 2021/22 season and although the contract renewal will push that contract expiry back by a year or two if not three, doubts still remain over his long term future there with reports continuing to link him with moves elsewhere.

Inter aside, Juventus have also drawn strong links to the 22-year-old as have Premier League sides Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

“The renewal of the Chiesa is close. As far as I know, Fiorentina have raised their offer. I don’t know exactly how close it is, but steps forward have been taken,” he told Italian television show RTV 38 late last night.

“When President Rocco Commisso returns, that may be the right time, both for the renewal of Chiesa and that of Dusan Vlahovic. The parties are now closer.”

This season Chiesa has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date. In little over 2000 minutes on the field, he has scored seven goals and provided five assists.
