Bergomi: “I Would’ve Liked To Have Seen Eriksen Played In Behind Inter’s Strikers Against Ludogorets”

Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has shared his belief that despite their progression to the last 16, the Europa League remains an afterthought for Inter in the grand scheme of things.

Inter have made it into the next round of the competition having seen off reigning Bulgarian champions Ludogorets 4-1 on aggregate and Bergomi believes that fighting for the Serie A title remains Inter’s priority for the time being.

“It is necessary to understand how the league campaign will go. Conte has said that he will rotate the team in the Europa League and it will depend a lot on the draw. As long as Inter are attacking Juventus and Lazio, I think the Europa League will be in the background,” the former Italian national team defender said as he appeared in Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia studios earlier on today.

He then went on to speak about Christian Eriksen and where he would like to have seen the Danish international, who joined Inter this past January, played in last night’s win over Ludogorets.

“I would have liked to see him behind the strikers, like in the final minutes of the first leg. We will have to understand what path Conte has in mind for him.”

Bergomi made a total of 754 appearances across all competitions for Inter in his 19 year senior playing career, during which time he helped the team win two Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia, one Italian super cup and three UEFA cups.
