Italian Domestic Season Could Run Into July Due To Lack Of Time To Fit Everything In

In today’s print edition, Gazzetta dello Sport have shared their belief that it will be impossible to conclude the domestic season in Italy by the June 30 deadline.

Earlier on this week, the 55 member associations of UEFA committed to finishing their seasons by this date after UEFA agreed to postpone this Summer’s European Championship’s to next Summer.

In postponing the European Championship’s, UEFA have given leagues an extra month to conclude but Gazzetta dello Sport believe that there will not be enough time to fit everything in by then, especially when UEFA are expecting their Champions League and Europa League competitions to take precedence.

Moreover, UEFA have an international break scheduled in at the beginning of June which will complicate matters for leagues across the continent.

As per the report, the Italian football federation will send a revised schedule to UEFA which foresees Serie A resuming on May 2 and running until June 28. The schedule will also have the remaining Coppa Italia matches as part of it and the report concludes that the Coppa Italia matches will take place in early July.
