Lega Serie A & FIGC Awaiting Ideas From Clubs On How To Deal With Potentially Significant Financial Losses

Lega Serie A and the Italian football federation are currently brainstorming in an attempt to come up with ideas that can help Italian football mitigate the significant estimated financial damage Italian football will occur as a direct result of the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

According to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, if the Serie A season does not finish there will be a loss of no less than €720 million, some €553 million more than would be lost if the season finished.

As things stand, it is currently unclear when Serie A will resume but multiple reports have suggested that the aim is to resume play at the beginning of May but it remains to be seen if that will be possible given the ever changing situation.

All 20 Serie A clubs are set to submit their ideas on how to deal with the situation by this evening and then Lega Serie A and the Italian football federation will evaluate them before sending the information onto the Italian government, who are likely going to have to step in and help out.
