Napoli are unwilling to meet the new contract demands that Dries Mertens have according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
Napoli have offered him a two year deal worth €4 million a season plus a €2 million signing on bonus but this offer falls short of Mertens’ demands with it understood he wants a three year deal, something Napoli are unwilling to give him.
Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco have meanwhile offered him a two year contract with an annual salary of €7 million but the former PSV Eindhoven player is not keen on a move to them.
The report goes on to add that Inter are very keen to land him on a free transfer and as soon as the lockdown ends, the Nerazzurri club will make what is described as a decisive lunge to sign the 32-year-old.
This season Mertens has made 29 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 12 goals and tallied six assists.
