Inter do not want to let Lautaro Martinez go and the only way he will be allowed to leave the club this coming Summer is if his release clause is triggered according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter president Steven Zhang, chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and manager Antonio Conte all share the view that they must keep the current squad intact and make a few additions to take the team up a level rather than sell key players.
Lautaro has a €111 million release clause in his current contract with Inter, a clause which can only be activated by clubs outside of Italy during the first fortnight every July. Moreover, reports have stated that the clause must be paid in full one week after it is activated.
The highly rated 22-year-old continues to draw links almost daily to Spanish giants Barcelona who, rather than paying his release clause, would like to do a player(s) plus cash deal for him.
