Negotiations between Inter and Paris Saint-Germain regarding Mauro Icardi could go on past the end of this month according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.
Icardi is currently out on loan at the Ligue 1 club who have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for €70 million, an option which expires this coming Sunday.
Whilst the newly crowned French champions would like to keep a hold of him past the end of this season, they do not want to pay the fee they agreed with Inter nine months ago.
According to the report, the parties now have 7 days to find an agreement before the deadline for the buy-out clause set at €70 million expires, at which point PSG will have to negotiate terms with Icardi again as well as with Inter.
They have seen an offer worth €50 million rejected already and the report goes on to state that Inter could grant them a discount and a deal could be done for somewhere in the region of €60 million plus add-ons.
Icardi has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 20 goals and provided four assists.
