Gabigol: “Cuca Speaks To Me Like A Father Speaks To A Son”

Following the 0-0 draw with Sao Paulo, Santos striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa spoke on his relationship with manager Cuca who he credits as helping him find his footing again after a difficult time in Europe.

“He talks to me about things in life and on the field, like a father to a son. Speaking with him has helped me a lot,” the Brazilian, who is on loan from Inter said in an interview with Globoesporte.

Currently leading the Brazilian league scoring charts, the 21-year-old insisted that goals are not the be all and end all for him when he takes to the pitch.

“I want Santos to win, I do not go into the field and think about deciding the match. It doesn’t bother me whether I score a goal or a team mate does. I prefer to think game by game and score my goals when I can and perform at my best to win.
