Former Inter club captain and now vice-president Javier Zanetti has revealed he and his teammates never feared losing the Scudetto in the Triplete season despite losing to Roma who ran them very close.
“We were not afraid of losing the Scudetto, we knew our strength and we had to do everything we could to win all the games that were remaining, it was not easy as Roma were a great opponent,” he explained at the event dedicated to the Triplete winning team in Trento.
“When I passed by their dressing room after the loss, I heard one of them say that they only had to win their derby against Lazio to win the scudetto but our humiltiy and desire allowed us to achieve the required results.”
The fight for the Scudetto went down to the final day of the season and Inter won the league by a two-point margin in the end over the Giallorossi.
