Former Inter midfielder Andy Van der Meyde has reflected upon his spell with the club.
“My experience in Milan with Inter was incredible and I am really happy to have been part of a famous club all over the world,” he said in an interview with Juvenews.eu.
“Who impressed my most in training? Certainly Captain Javier Zanetti did but Adriano was a really impressive player among my teammates. I still talk with Marco Materazzi and Obafemi Martins.”
He then went on to discuss what he think went wrong for him at the club.
“They did not let me play in my role. I had always been a winger and not a midfielder as I was at the Nerazzurri. There’s a big difference and I struggled for this reason I honestly wanted to stay at Inter but the club, and in particular the technical director at the time Marco Branca, wanted to sell me to Everton.”
He concluded with a comment on the Derby D’Italia.
“This is the most important match of the year in Italy, so I want to see fireworks.”
