Romelu Lukaku has agreed to cut his wages by 25% in order to secure a move to Inter, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Belgian earns more than €11 million per season at Manchester United but will drop his salary to €8 million should Inter reach an agreement with the Red Devils.
Inter received a boost in their pursuit of the forward on Tuesday when Lukaku told reporters he had already made a decision concerning his future.
The Nerazzurri face a very difficult challenge negotiating with United, though, as the Premier League giants continue to ask for €75 million.
Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio would have further room for maneouvre if they can sell Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic, both of whom are out of Antonio Conte’s plans for next season.
However, United have made it clear they will not accept any Inter players as part of the deal, unless defender Milan Skriniar becomes available.
“Lukaku was very clear with United’s management when he met them after a short holiday in the United States,” Corriere reported today.
“Now he hopes his move to Inter isn’t thwarted by owner Ed Woodward.”
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not asked the club to sell Lukaku but did tell the forward he is likely to prefer Marcus Rashford in attack next seasdon.
