Former Napoli Coach Di Marzio: “Icardi Won’t See The Pitch At Inter Under Conte”

Mauro Icardi stands no chance of being rehabilitated into Inter’s first-team as long as Antonio Conte is in charge, former Napoli and Palermo manager Gianni Di Marzio warned today.

Conte wants Icardi out of the club before preseason training begins on 7 July, but Maurito has no desire to leave the Nerazzurri.

The forward is said to be hopeful of changing Conte’s mind once the pair start working together, but Di Marzio was skeptical about his chances.

“My interpretation of Conte’s thoughts at the moment is that Icardi will spend the entire season doing laps of the pitch,” he told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Antonio will make him run the equivalent of the New York marathon if he doesn’t leave, especially if he keeps feigning injury and his wife keeps saying they’ll stay in Milan until his contract expires.”

Icardi has two years left on his current deal with Inter and there is no sign he will extend his contract.

Juventus remain the only side seriously interested in the 26-year-old but the Bianconeri do not seem to be in a hurry to organise a deal.
