Atalanta Want Inter & AC Milan’s Permission To Play Champions League Games At San Siro

Atalanta want to play their Champions League games at San Siro this season and have asked Inter and Milan for permission, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Bergamaschi have qualified for European football’s top club competition for the first time, but their Atleti Azzurri d’Italia stadium does not have a UEFA licence.

Chief executive Luca Percassi met with the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala last week and received ‘an enthusiastic yes’ for their idea.

“Inter have already said yes, not least because Steven Zhang and Percassi are close friends beyond their footballing relationship,” Gazzetta reported this morning.

“Milan have not responded yet following their exclusion from the Europa League, but they are feeling optimistic at Zingonia.”

Atalanta hope to receive the green light from the Rossoneri within 48 hours as they continue planning for the new campaign.

The club have informed the local police authorities in Milan and Bergamo and both have given their approval as well.
