Conte Tells Icardi & Nainggolan They Are Surplus To Requirements At Inter

Antonio Conte reiterated Inter’s desire to sell Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan when he spoke to the pair yesterday, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Both players began preseason training in Switzerland but were excluded from the Nerazzurri’s tactical drills and will not play in Sunday’s friendly against Lugano.

Icardi was sent to work in a smaller group with Dalbert and Samuele Longo at one stage, while Nainggolan trained mostly with fellow midfielders Marcelo Brozovic and Borja Valero.

Conte had time to speak individually with both and confirmed the club’s hard-line stance would not change, although it remains to be seen whether Inter will actually manage to sell them.

Inter’s new head coach also addressed the group as a whole for the first time, highlighting ‘collective thought, helpfulness and sweat’ as three cornerstones for the coming season.

Conte wants to embed his footballing ideas as quickly as possible and began working on them in the afternoon session after 6pm local time.

Club president Steven Zhang then arrived after the team finished dinner, greeting Lele Oriali and telling the players of his desire to achieve great things this year.
