Inter have seven days to agree a deal with Manchester United if they wish to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to La Repubblica.
The Premier League’s transfer window does not close until 8 August, but United would need the last four days of the window to find a replacement.
Antonio Conte’s backroom staff have joined the club’s charm offensive for the striker, who will miss United’s final preseason friendly in Norway tomorrow.
Juventus are increasingly interested in Lukaku as well, though, as Giovanni Branchini mediates between the clubs and works to convince Paulo Dybala to accept a swap deal.
Inter would be able to meet United’s asking price for Lukaku immediately if they could sell Mauro Icardi, but Juventus will not move for the Argentine until late August.
Fabio Paratici is convinced he can secure Maurito for a cheap fee at the end of the transfer window, but in any case he must first offload Gonzalo Higuain, who wants to stay and play under Maurizio Sarri again.
Napoli are a more realistic option for Icardi in the short term, as the Partenopei struggle to close deals for Nicolas Pepe, James Rodriguez and Hirving Lozano.
It remains highly unlikely that Aurelio De Laurentiis will agree a fee with Inter before 8 August, though, when United are expected to take Lukaku off the market.
