Inter are preparing to switch their attention to Edinson Cavani in attack as they continue to lose hope of signing Romelu Lukaku, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri have not begun talks with Paris Saint-Germain yet but they have approached the striker’s agents to see if Cavani would be interested in a move.
A response is expected today in that sense, and if the answer is positive Inter would launch a serious campaign to sign El Matador.
Lukaku now seems more likely to join Juventus, despite him being Antonio Conte’s dream signing up front, and this is pushing Inter to change their strategy.
Cavani is worth €50 million in the transfer market at the moment, which is considerably less than the €65 million Inter last offered Manchester United for Lukaku.
The Uruguayan has never publicly stated he wants to leave Paris, but the consistent disappointments he has encountered with PSG in the Champions League could convince him to move elsewhere.
Suning could offer the 32-year-old a three-year deal worth €9 million annually, as well as an intriguing sporting project with Antonio Conte.
Cavani might also be enticed to join Inter by the prospect of a subsequent move to China, with Suning owning another club in the Super League, Jiangsu Suning.
